Wedding Butterfly Release Cost: A Budget Checklist

What does a wedding butterfly release cost? The package price is the starting point, but it is not the whole budget. Before you place an order, write down the package you picked, any container option, the shipping cost confirmed for your date, and who will manage the order. That gives you a number you can actually compare with the amount you have set aside.

This checklist walks through our current Painted Lady wedding package prices, the lines to add to your budget, and the questions to settle before you commit.

How much does a wedding butterfly release cost?

Our wedding butterfly release packages range from 36 to 200 Painted Lady butterflies. These are the starting prices shown on each product page on October 20, 2026:

Package Butterflies How they are released Starting price
Package #1 36 Individual envelopes, release box or premium release box $110
Package #2 50 Individual envelopes $150
Package #4 50 One release box $180
Package #7 75 Individual envelopes or release box $199
Package #3 100 Individual envelopes $250
Package #5 100 Two release boxes $300
Package #6 200 Individual envelopes $500

If none of the packages fits your guest count, you can customize your own package by quantity and release type. A dozen Painted Ladies starts at $55 in individual envelopes or $60 in a release box.

These prices are a dated snapshot, not a quote for your order or a promise of future pricing. They do not include shipping, and any options you select and applicable taxes also belong in the final total. Save the package name and the date you checked it alongside your estimate, so anyone reviewing the budget later knows exactly what the number refers to.

Compare the same selection

Check the butterfly count and release style before comparing prices. Individual envelopes let each guest release a butterfly. A release box lets the couple or family release them all at once. Read the options on each product page, and do not assume every container shown is included in the starting price.

Keep these lines in your butterfly release budget

Use a short worksheet rather than recording the package price as the whole cost:

Budget line What to record
Butterflies Package name, quantity, starting price and the date you checked it
Selected options Release style or container choice and any confirmed extra charge
Shipping Charge confirmed for your delivery address and wedding date
Taxes Any applicable amount shown for your order
Order total Final amount reviewed before payment
Wedding arrangements Any separately agreed planner or venue costs, if they apply

Ask what your venue or planner agreement already covers before adding another allowance. Record optional ceremony spending separately so you can see the cost of the butterfly order on its own.

Confirm delivery before approving the spend

Give us your event date and delivery address. Ask which delivery arrangements are available, what shipping will cost, and who needs to receive the package. Confirm these details before you treat the budget as final.

Avoid an estimate that assumes a particular delivery day or arrival time. If you need the package sent somewhere other than your home, discuss that address with us and with the person who will receive it. A venue address only works when someone there has agreed to take responsibility for the delivery.

Put one person in charge of the order

Choose a coordinator who will keep the order confirmation, receive our instructions and contact us with questions. This can be your planner or another responsible adult. Agree on the role before ordering, rather than leaving it to whoever happens to be nearby on the wedding day.

Give that person the final package selection and delivery details. They should know who can approve a spending change and where to find our contact information. If someone else will receive the shipment, arrange a clear handoff of the package and the instructions that come with it.

Check the decisions that could change your plan

Get venue permission for the outdoor release before you buy. Contact us about delivery to your destination, and check with the relevant authorities about any requirements that apply to your location.

Talk to us about weather and cancellation terms before ordering. Follow the instructions supplied with your order and contact us for advice if conditions change. Do not budget on the assumption that bad weather automatically means a refund or a new delivery date.
