Wedding Trends to Watch for in 2025

Every couple has the opportunity to make their wedding unique and showcase their love story. However, in 2025, there are a few emerging trends that we expect couples to embrace in their nuptials. Continue reading below as we walk through some of the most anticipated wedding trends for 2025.

More Personalization, Less Tradition

While some traditions seemingly stand the test of time, like exchanging rings or sharing vows, how and when couples do them is changing.

Modern couples are less committed to tradition than previous generations. This applies to everything from the typical order of events to long-standing practices like having a formal wedding party.

Today, couples are choosing to do things “their own way” so that the wedding feels more relaxed and authentic to their relationship. This might mean they get ready together the morning of the wedding or share their vows privately with one another rather than in front of guests.

Smaller Guest Count

Post-pandemic, wedding guest counts increased as people celebrated being able to gather in large groups again. However, we anticipate this trend to ease a bit this year as couples opt for more intimate gatherings, prioritizing quality over quantity when it comes to the number of guests in attendance.

Not only can this be easier on the budget, but it also provides couples with more flexibility and creativity when it comes to venue, menu, and scheduling additional events throughout the wedding week or weekend.

Greater Emphasis on the Menu

With a reduced guest count, there’s more room in the budget to focus on the quality of certain wedding components, like the food. Whether the couple decides to have a traditional sit-down dinner or a more casual buffet-style meal, we expect couples to put more thought into curating the event menu than in previous years.

Going along with the authenticity and personalization trend we discussed above, couples this year might be more inclined to include dishes that speak to their relationship, families, and values, whether that’s cultural foods, in-season items, or a favorite meal they share.

Coordinated Color Scheme and Decor

This year, we anticipate couples will continue to move away from strict color schemes and matching decor to a more laidback and relaxed style. In other words, rather than choosing one or two “wedding colors,” they might pick an entire palette to inspire the decor, floral arrangements, and attire.

This means bridesmaid dresses might be in different shades of the same color and varying styles and fabrics. Or, couples might opt for mismatched china and a variety of tablescapes instead of identical ones on every table.

This coordinated look is more visually intriguing and creates a sense of authenticity with different textures and layers throughout the venue.

Sustainability

It seems that there is a greater emphasis on sustainability every year, and wedding celebrations are no exception.

In 2025, we expect couples to be more mindful of the environmental impact of their celebration. This doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking during the wedding planning phase. However, we anticipate they’ll rethink incorporating wasteful items that weigh on the budget and quickly end up in the trash, such as glowsticks, wedding favors, and other unnecessary items.
